But production based can be as or more expensive, not to mention slower in my opinion!
In my opinion whether you go for a production-derived race car it's expensive (see Super 2000 or N-GT for example) or whether you go for a production-based it's expensive (see Grp N where somehow "production" WRXs and Evos cost $200k each).
I think to have tough race bits, and mandate more standardized race bits if needed to control costs, is better in my opinion.
