The Multi-Union first apeared in 1938. Compared with the original tipo B it had a new four-speed gearbox (the original was 3) a Lockheed hydraulic braking system and a number of modifications to the chassis and sspension, all aimed at improving road-holding. It was very successful that year, wining several races and lapping Brooklands at over 140 mph.

During the winter of 1938-39 it was further modified. Independent front suspension was fitted, the rear suspension was further modified and a large number of detail changes were made. this car is often referred to as the Multi-Union II. THe car did not appear until the August meting at Broklands mentioned by Marc C. This was also the last ever meeting at Brooklans.

Chris Staniland was chief test pilot for Fairey Aviation, but was killed during the war.

The donor/recipint of the chassis number was 5003.
