Yeah, but that's well away from the track.

The track is a lot closer to the seaway entrance, so chances are, there'd be more sharks closer to the track

ps: I used to manage a resort in Surfers Paradise that backed on to a canal, a good rule of thumb is that if the water tastes salty, there's sharks in it.
All the good resorts have swimming pools anyway, so why bother with the canals.
