I just took a look back at previous entry lists, and this is easily the lowest number of entries for "normal" 911s since 1992, when there were none. From '93 to '06 911s made up between 14% (2002 - 7 of 50 entries) and 25% (2000 - 12 of 48 entries). I didn't count the GT1s from '96 to '98 because even a dyed-in-wool 911-phile wouldn't consider them "proper" 911s.
This year 911s are only 7% of the entry. That's a massive drop. Even if the field was it's old size of 50 cars, they would still only represent 8% of the field.
The numbers reveal how huge the differences are for 2007. I've always veiwed 911s as boring to watch and listenb to, and too often filler for the most part, bar a few highly competitive entries. This year they've made room for more GT1s and LMP1s (yummy
) which to me are the real attraction.
