I was with Norwich Union. Note I said 'was'. When I first contacted them about the incident, I was advised just to pay the excess as it would be 'the easiest option'! It was partly my fault as I didn't have legal protection on the policy (I just thought it was one of those things insurance companies added to policies that we don't actually need) so i would have had to pay for a solicitor myself to claim the money back and really didn't want the hassle of doing that. My main disappointment was with the police though.. I'd done all the hard work for them by tracking down the driver and supplying witnesses. I always thought it was a criminal offence to drive away from the scene of an accident?
