From your account of this car my thoughts are that it could be the Fiesta that Julian May ran for Jock Robertson (or Rob Hall?) in the early part of the 1983 Trimoco BTCC before his Escort RS1600i was ready.

That particular Fiesta probably ran in the last season of Group 1 in 1982 as well and then possibly changed to Group A specs for 1983.

Could do with some input from other tenthers here!!
