I am familiar with Mike Marshall Escorts in NZ, in 1973 he was going to use Ford owned XPU217L, but since there was no time to convert to RHD, Ford leased Mikes own RHD RS1600 escort from him for him to drive,they fitted the runnig gear out of XPU for this event.He did not drive XPU218L. The car Mike drove in the 1973 Heatway is owned by Peter Bryant in Whangarei NZ. XPU217L was restored by a freind of mine and solld to Australia. This car is not an RS1600 as it has a Ford NZ chassis tag(RS1600 only assenbled in UK)and doesn't even have remotely the right chassis numbers.
