No, of course it's not true. The only way to access the circuit via the tram is by getting off at the Antares/MMArena stop and use the entrance there.
You can also get off a stop earlier and use the Tertre Rouge entrance, the tram doesn't go anywhere near the main entrance, Arnage etc.
