I really don't have much of a problem with this unification of tech rules. It keeps costs down and give both series more potential participants and better still, exchange races probably held somewhere near where I live. The tech rules are the same within their own series as of today, in 2014 it will be just shared with another series.
I am sure the cars will look spectacular because, well, what dumb manufacturer would build an ugly car to race in front of their target audience and loyal fans?
The sporting regulations will remain the same as they are, AFAIK, so Super GT can still do their 1000km race with driver changes and DTM can stick to their one driver per car thing. So no difference there.
