Maybe we need another thread about car safety....
I have not heard what actually broke, but if it was seat mounts I'd be interested to know why, how or whether they were different to "normal" race seat mounts. Although JM was going pretty quick when he hit, and it was sideways, but no way the seat should have moved like that.
Remember years ago in F1 they decided to put tether straps on the wheels to stop them flying off in the event of an accident, these were composite and supposedly very strong, but soon after we saw one come adrift and a wheel go bouncing off after a shunt.
Sometimes maybe a bit more engineering calculation and quality control needs to be used for driver safety measures.
Just my thoughts anyway.
