I hope it's not too late but can I suggest Vredestein Quatrac all-season tyres. We have run them on my mother's car for a number of years (Quatrac 2s and 3s) and they seam to do very well in winter, no problems in snow. This might be due to skinny 185/60 14 sized tyres. We normally rotate tyres every November and Easter, but the last pair were left on and lasted 2 or so years. We have now recently bought a pair of Conti 850's winters to replace them.
