Its interesting that the minimum of an F1 car is now almost 200kg heavier than in 1987.
2014 weight limit 691kg 1987 weight limit 500kg.
Although that weight excluded the driver so one could allow about 80kg for them bringing it up to 580kg. I cannot remember what the actual allowance for a driver when the change came in. If I remember correctly there were cars that were lighter than 500kg and had to be ballasted up to weight.
