Well he wrote "testing the FIA World Rallycross Championship Volkswagen PoloR" and a passenger seat does not necessarily mean it is not a rallycross car. Many rallycross cars have brackets for a second seat also, for example when press driving.
Since he is also a rallycross driver it would make more sense if he tested a rallycross car, they already have Grönholm and the regular drivers testing out the 2017 WRC car. They have been quite open about testing the 2017 car too.
