Equestrian sports are totally open in terms of the participants gender. Many World, European and Olympic medals have been won by female competitors, including two members of the British Royal Family, HRH Princess Anne & Zara Tindall.
In the early 1990's version of the DTM Ellen Lhor was a works driver for Mercedes for many season, and won races.
