Maserati has a ton of recent experience from GT4 racing with the Gran Turismo MC GT4, but mostly through customer teams. The factory effort with the Gran Turismo GT4 focused on the early years (2009-2010) and then the Trofeo series.
I would be very surprised if the factory gets directly involved in GT4 this time, although a GT4 customer version of the MC20 may make sense, just like Aston Martin, Mclaren, and Mercedes provide GT4 cars to private teams.
However, a GT3/GTE factory-backed effort makes 100% sense
