It seems after Panoz won LM in GT2 in '06, Panoz was either trying to sell control of the series to someone else or was hoping that other OEMs would help foot the bill. And we all know what happened when Audi Sport killed their LMP1 program for the ALMS after '08 and Porsche did turn the RS Spyder program into a genuine customer program.
Not to mention that Don Panoz tried to sell majority interest in IMSA to Jim France as early as late 2006.
Besides, no more NBCSN after this season does also sort of effect NASCAR, as most of their races were being shown on NBCSN. At least it gives USA Network something to show other than WWE stuff and Law & Order re-runs.
