That was always a long shot that MG Rover, Chilton probably felt relieved he didn’t have to do it. The DTM wasn’t great at the time, so it was probably for the best. At least they had a plan though. I do remember Autosport mentioning Herbert as being one of the most likely candidates until Chilton was hired.
