Apparently there are still quite good chances of T3 having two cars again - Maximilian Paul is a favourite to this seat.
DTM as a GT3 series still seems to be a bit of an interim solution but the interest from many teams this year and an extremely strong field of teams and drivers show that DTM is a brand that is very attractive and if only teams can afford to go there, they go for it. There are many teams that used to be a pinnacle of ADAC GT and now they're in DTM (some of them only in DTM).
It might not be what the original DTM was, as you argue Bcarr6, but, on the other hand, the original DTM was a touring car championship having cars that raced almost all around the globe. Now they use GT3 cars, so that's a switch to GT, but, you know, the point is, original DTM didn't use their own ruleset as well.
I'm really curious about DTM's future but for now I'm happy the GT3-DTM seems to be working.
