BMW kept sponsoring their team until 1997. They had to move from the ATCC to the Australian Super Touring Championship instead due to lack of support from ATCC rule makers.
Where was the provision to support BMW's intent to enter the Australian Touring Car Championship, be it with drawing up rules to accommodate a 540i (notably
with a V8!) or for some other BMW vehicle?
