You mean he couldn't call a cab? No real issue with the drinking to the point of stupidity, people make dumb choices all the time, not going to crucify them. If he has personal issues that led him into this situation, he needs to address that pdq.
But someone in his position can't afford to compound matters by getting sloshed AND then driving home. That is unacceptable who ever is involved, but a very bad look for his employer and given who they are they need to act firmly to show that they do not condone such behaviour.
