Newey ordered a sailboat in 2023 for the purpose of "sailing around the world", his words. He's taking delivery in 2024. So it seems to me that he is retiring. Sailing around the world takes a minimum of 3 years.
But even if he went to Ferrari, is there really any game changing proprietary technical information about the ground effect Red Bull that he can share? With 3 years of convergence with these ground effect cars, the head start Red Bull had with its design is already almost gone. Before the technical directives in 2022, the Ferrari was just as fast as the Red Bull too.
I don't think Newey's arrival will be the short or medium term game changer that some people think it will be.
