Buddy's championship success was only down to the weaker field in those days - remember that, not only had none of the CART teams converted, Brack and Stewart had jsut moved on, and Sam was a rookie. Against the current field, he sin't good enough, and never would've been. He barely made a blip in CART before the split.
I doubt he'd appeal to Kelley or Panther, when better drivers should be available - and at worst, yougner or better-funded ones.
