Everyone's favorite topic. Stint Lengths!

There were some long runs, almost exclusively in the second session.

Of these long runs all of them had at least one slow lap (defined here as 10% longer than the fastest lap of that car - so about 21s for LMP).

Number in brackets are number of slow laps in the stint, excluding the out-lap. x show how many stints.

LMP1
13 lap stints
Toyota #8 x1 (4)

12 lap stints
Toyota #7 x3 (1,2,2); the FL for this car was set in stint with only one slow lap
Toyota #8 x1 (1)
Glickenhaus #708 x1 (1)

no 10 or 11 lap stints

9 lap stint
Glickenhaus #708 x1 (2)

8 lap stint
Alpine #36 x2 (1,2)

The most the Glickenhaus #709 did was 7.
The next highest the Alpine did was 6 laps x3.

So it looks like the ACO have hit their intended 12 lap stints. Although a small question mark remains if they can do it under a flat out stint. Although it is clear that with a little SC
/FCY longer is on.

Alpine has only shown 8 so far, but didn't look like it was trying too hard and you'd have to think at least 10 is on.

Glickenhaus hasn't been trying too hard for stint length too. Presumably concentrating on trying things on the car and sorting niggles (???). Especially on the #709, which was in and out all day.

Going back to the lap times data above. It also seems that no one was doing anything that daft in LMP1 in terms of going for times either. With both Toyota and Glickenhaus setting there time during a long stint (especially with #7).

Unlike in LMP2...
