A difficult area, is this. Series come and go, usually for two or three major reasons. Firstly, the manufacturer/vested interest behind it lose interest (Formula Vauxhall/Vauxhall Junior/F First/F Forward all spring to mind). Secondly, driving standards lead people to give up (Sports 2000?) and third, alternatives come along which "steal" the competitor base. None of these things is easy to fight. However, Sports 2000 is a glowing example of how to breathe new life into a moribund formula. Sports 2000 is now among the best supported series in UK motor sport, offers affordable cars with manageable running costs, and importantly, has a very strict driving standards policy. People have been excluded from races and even the series for ignoring this code of conduct. The result is 30+ grids over three major series (Duratec/Pinto/Historic) and races at the best circuits (Brands and S/S GP etc). I've been in it for the first time this year, and I don't regret the decision at all. See www.Sports2000-srcc.com if you're interested.....?
