Lots of other folks do exactly this. I don't think there are trains to Sebring from Tampa, but there may be busses. One tip -- find a Walmart BEFORE you go to Sebring and get the tent there, if you decide to do that. All the local Walmarts near Sebring will be tentless by the time you arrive.

If you get a hire car, don't forget your International Driving Permit.
