Indycar (& Champcar before it) struggle for attention as it is a domestic series & NASCAR is the big kid on the block domestically. Domestic single-seaters have struggled for years here in Australia for the same reason - Touring Cars is the big thing here domestically.
It appears that DtS is very strong - think I saw somewhere that Indycar has something similar in production & it appears that a number of sporting bodies are trying to do something similar with their behind the scenes stories.
