Some entry list stats to chew on. Possibly not 100% accurate...

62 cars listed
5 Hypercar
27 LMP2
7 GTE Pro
23 GTE Am

This is the third year in a row with only 5 cars in the top class. There were 8 in 2019.
Last year the 5 Hypercars finished in the first 5 places on the road, which must have surprised everyone. That surely won't happen again this year?

27 cars in LMP2 is a record. All are Orecas except CD Sport's lonely Ligier. We don't even have pretend constructors with rebadged Orecas like Alpine and Aurus this time.

Unless something changes, this is the last year of GTE Pro at Le Mans. And also the last year of a Pro GT class of any kind until they change their minds again. It's been a great class with some huge battles over the years. Hopefully this year lives up to it.

23 cars in GTE Am is the same as last year, which was the most in the 'junior' GT class since 2010 at least.

Next year we could see 12-14 cars in Hypercar? (2 each from Cadillac, Ferrari, Glickenhaus, Peugeot and Toyota; maybe 4 Porsches). The extra cars will mostly just replace the GTE Pro cars in the entry list so we are likely to see similar size LMP2 and GTE Am fields.

Gold 43 23%
Silver 50 27%
Bronze 36 19%
Le Mans rookies 53 28%

I think there are 3 entirely rookie crews.

The only rookie in Hypercar/GTE Pro is Shane van Gisbergen in the #74 Riley Motorsports Ferrari. He was meant to start the 2020 race but Covid 19 had other ideas.
