Obviously, the FIA etc on site will be able to make the most informed point of view/ report, follow-up etc.
The grandstand where the incident occurred has been closed.
My own keyboard observations - 1) the circuit appears as though it could also work in a reverse direction with modifications. Instead of the tight turn 1 at the end of the front straight, the sweeper 15 (at the end of a reversed front straight could allow more run off area, though with a lot of reduced crowd seating) 2) Using the existing clockwise direction, an extra chicane (in the sweeper 15 area) could reduce entry speeds onto the front straight and reduce the speeds for braking before the tight turn 1. 3) What appears to be the 'solution for some circuits' is the current fence with a higher back fence and moving the seating further back or reducing the seating in the area. (about 10 sections)

The size of the runoff area wasn't exactly the problem there so running counter wouldn't be an improvement in that regard.
Please no shitty chicane!
A separate tire wall in front of the permanent barrier might be more helpful as the tires will simply move backwards in its entirety, instead of getting compressed before expanding and launching a car to unimaginable locations.
