i think that all makes in the series should get manufacturer points, this year will (hopefully) have indy bmws, alfas, and a nissan (see hmm.. interesting addition thread).
What happens if an alfa or bmw wins a race? its going to look pretty weird from a casual viewers point of view to then see that BMW have logged 0 points in the manufacturers.

Why should manufacturers not supporting the championship or an entry/entries benefit? Besides, how many 'casual observers' watch the BTCC for the manufacturers' points standings?
