According to Marshall Pruett, Ford has said, "No" to DPi 2.0. Ford want's a Serious hybrid class, like FIA hybrids or such, which would justify a lot of spending ("It's not racing, it's R&D,") for Ford but would alienate all the other manufacturers who don't want FIA-style budgets.
(https://racer.com/2019/05/28/pruett-...hCma3G-9LzAPjM) I don't see IMSA going the way of FIA--after all, WEC's hybrid class essentially killed itself--and Ford has said that that is all that will entice it into the series.

I say, Good riddance. IMSA needs to keep costs down and keep making money, and needs to keep the cost of participating and succeeding low enough to attract fresh blood. WEC can't even find two teams to race in the top class---why would anyone follow that example?
