There are (currently) 59 cars on the entry list. This will be the lowest number of starters since 2015, when there were 56.
5 starters in LMP1 is the lowest number in the top class in... a long time. The high mark in the last decade was 2010, I think, with 18.
Since 2010, only one year has had more than this year's 24 LMP2s. That was 2017, with 25.
8 cars in the top GT class is the lowest number since 2010, which marked the end of GT1.
22 cars in the second GT class is the most since 2010.
In other words, privateers are filling the gaps left by missing works entries.

Drivers
Platinum 50 28%
Gold 42 24%
Silver 48 27%
Bronze 37 21%
LM rookies 43 24%

6 rookie crews this year, which is a lot.

Most starts (excl 2020)
Emmanuel Collard 23

Crew with most starts (excl 2020)

#91 Porsche 33
It's been the Corvette crews for the last few years, but not this time.

Previous overall winners 5

Previous class winners (excl overall) 30

Nationalities
FRA 33
GBR 31
ITA 18
USA 15
NED 10

BEL, DEU 4
AUS, AUT, CDN, RUS 3
COL, ESP, IRL, MEX, PRT, SWE 2
ARG, FIN, TWN, MCO, NOR, NZL, POL, THA, TUR 1

In the classes, Toyota should walk LMP1, of course.

LMP2 should see a good fight amongst some strong crews.

GTE Pro? Could be anyone. Maybe not Weathertech.

GTE Am
Both #56 and #57 Project 1 Porsches look good (Cairoli/ten Voorde/Perfetti and Bleekemolen/Fraga/Keating).

#77 Dempsey-Proton Porsche. Campbell's speed and Ried's experience plus whatever Pera brings?
#83 AF Corse Ferrari. Collard/Nielsen/Perrodo.
Both the #90 and #98 Astons. Adam/Eastwood/Yoluc and Farfus/Gunn/Dalla Lana.

39% of the GTE Am field are LM rookies, by my count. Could be some interesting driving standards out there.

There are 16 Ferraris in the race. Is that a record?
Thanks for that breakdown.

reading through that im finally starting to get excited for this years race.

forgetting LMP1, unpredictability could be the word of this race...throw in the weather, the rookies and it could be very interesting indeed.
