Lee Janotta should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Zanardi. He was capable of _so_ much more.

Rahal's a close second. F*****g James Hunt sabotaged his career, demanding a one-car operation at Wolf as the terms for his employment, then just walked away from the team 7 races into the season!

In his first F1 race, at Watkins Glen, he qualified 20th, and finished a very respectable 12th, still within a second of teammate Schecter!

At Montreal, he damaged his ground effects-equipped WR5, and had to go to an old non-ground effects WR1 chassis, Schecter's backup car. He put the car 20th on the grid when it shouldn't have even made the field, and was up to 11th, looking for a place to overtake Patrick Tambay's McLaren, when a fuel flapper valve stuck open and took him out of the race.

He was just about the only driver who could make trouble for Gilles Villeneuve in Formula Atlantic in '77, and he beat Rosberg, who finished 3rd in the championship.
