Thruxton 12.10.75
For the next installment of GCC's Magical History Tour we stay at Thruxton but move on to the first October meeting where Formula Atlantic was the star turn. The Southern Organs sponsored race was won by that years Formula Three champion Gunnar Nilsson after a fierce scrap with Ted Wentz who went on to win the Southern Organs championship. Sadly Gunnar would die just three years later, succumbing to cancer in October 1978.
The first two pictures show Gunnar Nilsson (Chevron B29) leading Ted Wentz (Lola T362), then John Nicholson (Modus M1) spinning out of the chicane before fighting back to pip Richard Morgan(Chevron B29) on last lap, the Brabham BT40 of Cyd Williams and finally Brian Henton extracting himself from his Wheatcroft 001 after spinning off.
