Very interesting editorial in the VSCC mag this month re their aged membership and the need to get younger folk involved but shifting the dates for eligible cars.
While the VSCC has been rather "public school" that no longer means being very rich. When any of the cars were bought when their owners were young, they were very cheap compared to a then modern car. Now when the sons or grandsons inherit the cars, they may like them but they realise the value of the cars is a life changing sum; a very nice house at the least.
The "new money" people who are able to buy and run vintage cars are different and VSCC events don't appeal. They are more like to go on long rally tours as run by HERO and others, semi competitive but a good jolly and stay at nice hotels etc.
