TCRs do 2:33s at Spa... fastest I found for GT4 at Spa - across the last three years - was 2:36... so unless GT4 got rained out each time, the TCRs are at the very least in the same ball park.

And that still leaves the problem with very few current TCR-cars fitting the US market. Some (Seat, Opel, and I think the Alfa) aren't available at all and others (Civic) only in a different bodystyle than what's available in the US. So any US-TCR class would very much have to start from scratch, getting US-manufacturers and tuners on board to build bespoke cars. And if you go through all that, you might just as well do it with a ruleset that actually fits your requirements.
