second the Manfrotto repair comment. all their products are generally well made and its easy to get replacement parts if the need arises. I have a black manfrotto monopod which is heavier than the earlier model I had (another manfrotto) which I lost unfortunately. Don't know how much carbonfibre ones go for, but I would appreciate the weight savings when it comes to schlepping, I just don't use one enough to need any different from what I have.

I do find quick releases to be an absolute must for monopod use, to be able to get a body on or off quickly depending on the need.
