Yeah, there's little to no chance that the 777's engine will run as hard for as long as the Vanwall did.
That doesn't necessarily mean that the chassis was decent; the Gibson V8 ran pretty much flawlessly at 600+hp in LMP2, so it may be a mix of both ... you can decide how much "blame" goes each way.
