I think the big issue now is that TRS never really had any competition during the "off season" whereas now you have Formula Regional Middle East and Formula 4 Middle East that use the same cars that are used in the junior series over in Europe run by the same teams, running on the undercard of Asian Le Mans Series and Dubai 24 hours. It gives you exposure to the sportscar paddock, good weather, less chance of accident damage/cost due to the huge run offs, plenty of track time, a chance to compete against the other top drivers and the chance to run at Yas Marina which is useful for those who wish to go on to F3/F2/F1.
