This is demonstrably untrue.

Race Highlights | 2023 Miami Grand Prix

Did you miss the battle between Magnussen and Leclerc, where Leclerc took two goes at overtaking Magnussen for example, having been outfoxed with DRS down the pit straight the first time? That was nice! Verstappen even overtook two cars (those two - Magnussen and Leclerc) on one straight, the pit straight which is not that long, it was good positioning as they squabbled!

A superb overtake by Alonso on Sainz too. Russell also made many nice moves, including on Sainz.

There were many overtakes from cars on the offset hard-medium strategy towards the end of the race. Likewise of cars on the medium-hard strategy overtaking those on the former during the middle portion of the race.

The race was a solid 7/10!

What's the problem?

A routine Red Bull Verstappen victory being expected, is no different to when a routine Mercedes Hamilton victory was expected some years ago. Verstappen still has quite some way to go to catch up to the total stats of routine victories and routine championships of the previous multiple champion after all, and routine wins are the best way to do that.

In any case, on average 50% of Formula One seasons since 1984 were contested and only 50% won dominantly, so we can expect it to average out over multiple seasons.

Besides, that only 0.9 seconds separated P2 (Sainz) to P20 in Q1 shows how incredibly tightly bunched the midfield teams are from P2 WCC to P10 WCC! Mercedes were P19 & P20 until their second run, showing how well the regulations are working to close the field and produce close competition... We expect Aston Martin will top the upper midfield and take P2 WCC (and Alonso take P3 WDC), but it could still be Ferrari or Mercedes yet... It's VERY tight despite Alonso taking best of the midfield most frequently so far!
