In 1994, there were no World Champions in the field after Senna's death, except for Nigel Mansell's one-off in Australia. Prost and Piquet had retired, and Nigel was tinkering around in Indycars. That means that for 1995 and 1996, Michael Schumacher was the only World Champion in the field, so he shouldn't have any trouble adjusting.

Also, in 1981, the only World Champion in the field was Alan Jones. Scheckter, Hunt, and Lauda had all walked away from the sport (at least temporarily in Lauda's case), and Andretti and Fittipaldi were racing in the States.
