There's nothing in the Le Mans/FIA GT rules about pushrods, but 2 valve per cylinder engines, i.e. a lot of cross-plane crank V8s such as the Roush, Yates and Elan V8s used in the various Panoz GT1 and LMP cars were/are allowed a slight restrictor diameter increase over 4 valve engines of the same capacity. The Jag V12 in the Lister Storm GT1 car is also 2vpc, so qualifies for a restrictor increase.
I believe that the Mercedes engine was a 4 valve engine.
