He's right.

The LM was built to celebrate the success of Le Mans in 1995.

They're basically a GTR engine unrestricted and barely changed for the road. They are road cars though, never racing cars.

McLaren own the prototype, XP1 LM and they made five more cars. LM1, 4 and 5 are owned by the Sultan of Brunei with two of them being black and silver with coloured swooshes down the sides. LM2 is in Japan and LM3 is owned by Ralph Lauren.

The GTR's you see on the road are exactly that. Race cars that have been modified to comply with current road regulations. I believe their suspension set up is the same as an LM's.

Some of them as mentioned have been repainted to the famous Papaya/Historic Orange and it really annoys me because it fools a lot of people into thinking they're LM's. I believe the current list of converted GTR's is as follows.

#02R - 1995 Gulf car, recently repainted to the 1995 LM24 livery
#03R - 1995/1996 West car, winner of 1995 BPR series
#05R - 1995 BBA car, currently in an imitation of the livery it wore at 1995 LM24
#06R - 1995/1996 Harrods car
#07R - 1995 Jacadi Giroix car, currently Papaya Orange
#08R - 1995 Gulf car, currently Papaya Orange
#10R - 1996 Prototype GTR
#11R - 1996 Frank Muller Giroix car, currently Papaya Orange
#12R - 1996 Gulf car
#13R - 1996 LARK car
#14R - 1996 LARK car, currently Papaya Orange (owned by Adrian Newey)
#16R - 1996 FINA Bigazzi car, currently Papaya Orange

As someone else mentioned, the LARK car is the sister car of the one that won the 1996 JGTC. #14R was used by the drivers that won it but was crashed in either the penultimate race or one before and was replaced by #04R (started as a 1995 Gulf car until it was crashed at the Monza BPR race just before LM95). McLaren own that one. It's still in LARK livery just without the sponsor decals.
