1982 is such a contradiction. On the one hand it was one to forget with tragedies, too much political acrimony and cars that were horrible to drive. OTOH it will never be beaten in terms of how competitive and open it was. 11 different winners in 7 different cars, with no one winning more than 2 races.
On balance I will go for 1979, it was probably not as nasty as 1982, but it was a tough one to choose
