He's already spent nearly 3 years in F3000, and never did much. He really didn't appear to be anything special, and success in F3000 seems to be more useful in CART than F1. He looked respectable at Jordan, but no more than that.
On the positive side, a new car is a new car, he clearly wouln't be taking over a ride which would've otherwise gone to a talented guy with no sponsorship, and it might open up a new market. I guess all that outweighs any lack of talent he might have.
