It would be better to refuel before leaving UK and get a restricted amount of fuel in France. The limit is 20 or 30 litres per vehicle in some stations.
They stopped us taking in a can of Gin and Tonic last year!

Drive down and fill up before you go into the circuit? Then you just risk losing an empty jerry can.
