If he's interested in making a more money even a mediocre team in the Cup Series would probably make it worth it.

Take for example Jeff Green, who's driving the #43 Petty Enterprises Dodge. His best finish so far this year is 16th (with the four other finishes all outside the top-20), and yet he has collected over $700k in winnings.

As a comparison the 2004 Busch Series Champ collected just over one million - for the whole year.
