I always believed Portland would remain on the schedule. Why would the owners (the city of Portland) spend the money to upgrade the track to current pro racing spec if they didn't plan to hold pro races?

No, I heard (outlandish, probably) rumours that if agreement couldn't be reachd with the current promoters that a new circuit - yet another street course - would likely be implemened. I hope that this isn't the case.
