It's a very good book, I have it in my collection. It came from a time before someone told James Allen he would make a good commentator.
In Suzuka 98, I think Schumi had to drive fast on the parade lap to try and get as much cold air into the car as possible because Ferrari hadn't gotten onto the grid quick enough to put ice in the car. If they had he could have taken the parade lap at a more leisurely pace.
