its before my time but i assume it was a standalone event for the superprix....a lot of the drivers in that video were rally drivers....

There was a short-lived '6R4 Superchallenge' series- it ran for a couple of seasons, 1988/9. I definitely remember seeing a round at Donington, probably in the summer/autumn of '88.
IIRC, it included both rallies and races (certainly most of the drivers I remember taking part were regular 6R4 runners on the rally scene). The Birmingham race might well have been a standalone race that didn't count for points, rather than a regular Superchallenge round. Ah that video is brilliant. As a Brummie myself I wish the Superprix could be revived - I was too young when the original was running!
And the 6R4...my Dad still raves about that, but then he did work at Rover! |

I remember that. One of them stuck it in the gravel, engaged first and shot straight back out again!
