New Indy Cup sponsor

The Indy Cup will have a new sponsor this year - HarrierZeuros, who you may remember as the FFord title sponsor last year. Rather than an end-of-season prize the winning independent of each race will get a cash prize of £2500.

Hilton Hotels, who sponsored the Indy Cup last year, stay on-board as sponsor of the new 'Driver of the Day' award. At each meeting fans get to vote via either MotorsTV or Radio TOCA, the winning driver gets awarded 5 twin rooms at a Hilton Hotel.

kmchow should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
I'm grateful that another sponsor has joined and Hilton is staying on as an associate sponsor. But how useful are 5 twin rooms to indy teams?

The press release doesn't specifically say but I assume the Driver of the Day award is open to any driver, not just indys.

The rooms are actually a lot less useful that they first seem. For example Rob Collard won the rooms after Mondello, went to book the rooms for Brands Hatch only to be told the hotel was already full.

£2500 for every race ? Thats pretty good, a fair whack of your budget if you can win every race!

A good step IMO, before there was not much of a financial reward for independants winning their races.

Of course, it makes sense for the hotel to provide rooms b/c it does not cost them any physical money, just perhaps lost revenue at most?

Too bad, it can't be cash, which I'm sure independents would definitely appreciate more, even if it's just 200 quid instead??
